Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary
Education Board (GSHSEB) has decided to reduce the syllabus for classes 9 to 12
by 30% for the academic year 2020-21 owing to the prevailing coronavirus situation.
Besides, exams for class 10 and 12 will be held on May 21 and for class 9 and
11 will be held in the month of June next year. The decision was taken keeping
in mind the course load on the students.
State Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said, "Schools are shut since March and classes are being conducted online. Considering
the difficulties faced by students and parents, we held meetings four times with
educationists where the concerns of parents and students regarding exams and
syllabus were discussed. We have decided that exams for class 10, 12 will be
held on May 21 and for class 9, 11 will be held in June. Keeping the same
concerns in mind, we have also reduced 30% syllabus for classes 9 to 12 for 2020-21."
